The Office of Multicultural Affairs will be a part of the Department of Student Affairs and work with all students, faculty & staff to raise awareness and appreciation of diversity and promote the benefits of community service.

Capital University was founded in 1830 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 40 years before what would become The Ohio State University, securing its title as the oldest university in Central Ohio. The university was originally located in downtown Columbus, but eventually moved its main campus to the rural peripheral of Columbus. This 'rural' area has since developed into the upscale suburb of Bexley. Capital University's educational mission is based on Lutheran values of free inquiry, critical thinking, and leadership. A current motto used at the school is 'Ask. Think. Lead.,' a continuing reminder of its educational mission.
