I'm a 17 year old high school junior. I currently play for Cleveland Volleyball Company's 17 American Team, in the Ohio Valley Region. This is my fifth year of Junior Olympic Volleyball.
Before I embarked on playing Junior Olympic Volleyball, I attended the Junior Volleyball College at Academy Volleyball Cleveland (AVC) for two years to develop the skills and confidence before trying out for a Junior Olympic team. I started playing for DG Warriors (now DG Serve Volleyball Club) Regional 13's Team and played with DG on their 14's Team as well. DG Warriors was an outstanding club, that was rooted in Christian values that was important to me. However for my own development, I felt it was necessary to accept a 15's contract with my current club Cleveland Volleyball Company (CVC). I've had the opportunity to compete at a high level and my 15's team won 3 tournaments in my first year.
While attending the 9th grade, I played on the Bedford High School Junior Varsity Team. In the 10th grade I made the Varsity team and obtained a Varsity Letter. In order to play on the Varsity Team, I had to learn to play on the Right Side, which was a new position for me, as I had played Middle Hitter/Blocker throughout Junior Olympic and High School. To challenge myself and to better improve my skills, I played a season of Beach Volleyball and have attended volleyball camps held at Cleveland State University.
Because of Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) guidelines, I was forced to sit out the entire volleyball season in my junior year due to transferring from Bedford High School to The Cleveland Early College at John Hay. This decision, was made to enable me to capitalize my academic potential and to better prepare me for the rigors of college academics. In addition to attending high school and taking AP Courses, I'm also enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College, where I take courses through the College Credit Plus Program. I'm a member of the National Honor Society and maintain a 3.6 GPA. I scored a 20 on my ACT, but I plan on retaking the ACT at the conclusion of the Junior Olympic season.
